Back to 50cc roadracing machines

Sparta

The Dutchs Sparta mopedworks decided to build some motorcycles for normal road use.
And make publicity for it, by going into 50cc roadracing.
The 50cc racer was build in 1978 by famous racing constructor Piet Plompen, together with our
1974 worldchampion Henk van Kessel.
The engine is an own design, but some people say all the things inside were Kreidler, i am not sure.
Henk raced the machine in the years 1978-1979-1980.
1978 12th place in the World Championship, best result was 3rd place at CS-GP
1979 7th in W.C., best result first place in Belgium GP
1980 5th in W.C.
In between Sparta decided to stop financing the project, and in 1980 it was entered in the GP's
as the Pentax.
